Support Uplift
Uplift limits apply to all load types so this check is not limited to wind only. For sloped and non-sloped horizontal members ForteWEB software will:
- Fail design when the uplift load at any support exceeds the values shown under the Maximum Uplift Limit column in the next table. Software will return product constraint: This product failed due to an excessive uplift of -xx lbs at support x”.
- Allow design to pass when uplift load exceeds the Minimum Uplift Limit in the next table but it is below the Maximum Uplift Limit. Software will return product warning: -xx lbs uplift at support x”. Strapping or other restrain may be required.
- If no uplift load exceeds any of the values listed below then software will pass uplift design check and not return any messages.
Uplift is considered in the direction of gravity. Uplift limits cannot be modified by the user. Uplift can be generated by any load type, either as a directly applied negative load (either as a direct input or as a load reversed by a load combination), or generated at design time by live load patterns. For Canada the uplift values returned are strength (ULS) values.
